If you read our last blog post, you know I am pretty crazy about this vanilla. Really good vanilla – which this is – is an amazing flavor on its own. In combination, it enhances nearly everything. The purpose of this post is to share a little more about this company and offer you kind folks some really awesome vanilla. This vanilla is organic, Fair Trade Plus+™ and gluten-free.
Singing Dog Vanilla is produced in Papua New Guinea and named for the native Singing Dog. The dog does not bark. It prefers to “sing” somewhat like a whale. It is considered the ancestor to the Australian dingo and other Asian species of domestic and wild dog.

Now that you’ve heard the dog sing, it is time to taste the vanilla! Leave a comment telling me your favorite recipe that features vanilla. Winners will be contacted by email.

Wow, it’s hard to choose just one favorite recipe that features vanilla! I woould have to go with some good old fashioned (and vegan) chocolate chip cookies!
I love vanilla in any fruit recipe, particularly peaches; the smoothness of the vanilla complements the sweet tanginess of the fruit. So I have to say the thing I like using vanilla best in is peach cobbler—seasoned with cinnamon, too.
From veganomicon cookbook the vanilla pound cake. Perfectly moist and full of vanilla awesome flavor!
Well, first of all, what a fascinating sound! As a music therapist I’m always interested in how different environments/landscapes/parts of the world sound. Thanks for posting this.
Gosh, I love vanilla with a passion. I tend to be very sensitive about smell and vanilla is one of the few scents I really like. I don’t tend to bake (because I’m a lousy baker), but I started adding a bloop of vanilla to this (http://www.uncoveringme.com/porridge.pdf) spelt porridge recipe because I never have vanilla soy milk.
I think the real reason for my love of vanilla, though, is that it always reminds me of cake. I was working with a client once in a group home, and his staff had a some sort of vanilla scented plug-in device. By the end of the session I was DYING for a piece of cake!
this vanilla looks wonderful! I love to cook with vanilla, and I think my favorite recipe is vanilla waffles
Oh my, vanilla is one of my favorite things! My favorite recipe for vanilla is putting it in my bathwater! But, I guess you want something we consume? I’m about to put it in a smoothie, involving 1/4 of spinach, 1/4 an avocado, a banana, some mango and almond milk. I also put a good shot in my Mexican hot chocolate mix. I buy dark chocolate chunks and throw them in a food processor with Cheyenne pepper, cinnamon, a touch of chili powder and raw sugar. I put a few drops of great vanilla in, then blitz the whole business. I keep this wonderful mess in a glass bin and every time I crave chocolate (every day it snows!) I sprinkle 1/4 c. of it over simmering soy milk and let it melt through. Top w/ vegan marshmallows and you’re all set.
Those sound fabulous, Sallie Ann!
I love vanilla in everything! As a native southerner, descending from true Southern Belles, my early memories were of my grandmothers spiking glasses of milk with vanilla and calling them milkshakes to get us to drink them. Some women in the community were known to dab vanilla extract behind their ears for the pleasant scent.
So early on I spiked my children’s (and grandmas’) soymilk drinks with vanilla to play it forward.
For baking, vanilla is the secret ingredient in my vegan sweet potato pie.
My favorite recipe containing vanilla is my pancakes. I flavor them with extra vanilla and cinnamon and all two & four-legged members of the household love them!
OMG—I just listened to the clip of the dog singing! That sounds like it could have been played on a theremin! http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1631823248966381492&ei=3xGRS8jlAZG0qAKQsMnAAg&q=theremin+sound+clip&hl=en&client=firefox-a#
That would be a Vanilla-Cinnamon Soy Latte that I had in the

Am loving vanilla in all the vegan ice cream recipes, and that includes
Peach Ice Cream on pg. 94.
Vanilla Cinnamon Maple Almond Milk Ice Cream!!!! My kids and I go nuts for it!!!
Definitely rice pudding… vanilla is key to such a creamy, comforting dish.
…a lovely cream of cauliflower soup, made by a gourmet baker friend, just had salt, onions & vanilla as flavouring! it was unusual and delicious. THe favorite recipe that *I* make with vanilla? Not sure! There are many.
hm that’s a tough one, but i’m going to say my favorite recipe that includes vanilla right now is my pomegranate raspberry vegan cupcakes (no surprise)…ooh la la delicious, the vanilla adds a different flavor to the sweetness of the berries and pomegranate juice.
xx
My favorite vanilla recipe is fro homemade vanilla ice cream.
Using farm fresh milk and eggs.
my favorite vanilla recipe is ‘anything baked.’ I add vanilla to fruit cobblers, to chocolate drinks, to milk shakes – I freeze fruit in small chunks (on a tray, so it’s not all stuck together), when it’s frozen, I get the blender out and put about a cup of milk (or soy milk), half a cup of fruit (more if you prefer a thicker shake or more fruit flavor), vanilla (to taste), and sugar, if necessary. Blend like mad until thick. Depending on who you’re sharing it with, this usually makes 2 servings.
