Gluten-free has taken the world by storm- coming late to the game yet wholly bypassing veganism in terms of awareness and accessability. I'm still trying to figure out how that happened, and I admit that I maintain some animosity as a result; why should significant or perceived allergies trump respect for all living beings? But that is a different issue entirely. What I take away from this post is confirmation that everyone can be an activist in their own way, in their own corner of the universe. You are not only providing for the gluten-averse, but simultaneously opening their eyes to the ethics behind veganism. If you can make an allergy-sufferer happy with something that happens to be vegan, mightn't you change their sensibilities while you're at it? Small steps build a strong foundation; you must reach people however you can.
